Llangollen, North
Wales and Snowdonia : Velvet Cottage is a family owned, recently modernised
3 bedroom end terrace cottage situated in a quite magnificent setting one and
a half miles North of Llangollen. The fully furnished self catering accommodation,
graded 3 Star by VisitWales, is positioned above a quiet lane and is backed by
National Trust owned Velvet Hill. The cottage is an ideal base for hill and lane
walking, mountain biking, canoeing, rock climbing or simply exploring the famous
North Wales and Borderlands countryside and mountains. Local attractions include
Valle Crucis Abbey, Llangollen canal and aqueduct, Llangollen steam railway (,
Plas Newydd (home of the Ladies of Llangollen), the Horseshoe Pass and the North
Wales coast.
Velvet
Cottage can provide rental accommodation for five and is suitable for small parties
or family groups. Full self catering facilities are provided, although there are
many options for eating out locally or in Llangollen itself - the choice is yours!
The accommodation is not suitable for disabled persons due to the presence of
access steps and an internal staircase to the bathroom facilities. A car is recommended
but not essential (off-road parking is provided). Dogs and other pets are not
allowed in the cottage.
There
is evidence of a cottage being on the site since 1606. Velvet Cottage itself was
built about one hundred and fifty years ago and has been owned by the present
family since 1920. It's position on Abbey Terrace affords magnificent views out
across Valle Crucis (Valley of the Cross) towards the Horseshoe Pass in the distance.
The cottage was built with local slatestone and the thick walls offer insulation
in the Winter and welcome coolness in the height of Summer. Velvet Cottage has
been recently modernised and is equipped to the highest specifications. It has
been graded 3 Star by VisitWales. The downstairs room floors are covered in the
original terracotta quarry tiling. Over the years the floor has been protected
by carpet coverage and as a result it is in immaculate condition. The living room
ceiling features the original oak beams, painted black in traditional Welsh style.

a convenient central location in the beautiful town of Llangollen in North Wales.
The town is a popular tourist destination with a steam railway, horse drawn canal
boats and beautiful scenery.The town stages many popular events all year round
including the world famous International Eisteddfodd music festival. The cottage
is within a few minutes walk of all the attractions as well as restaurants and
pubs with live music and other entertainment. The town is also a great base for
day trips to Snowdonia and the north coast beaches. This cottage itself provides
basic accommodation with one double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and bath,
kitchen and lounge. The property does not have a garden or parking, but parking
may be arranged at the owners property close by. pets welcome but due to lack
of garden it may not be suitable for a large animal. Non smokers only. bed linen
and towels provided. Transport from airport/railway station may be arranged through
owner.

Llangrannog, Cardigan Bay, West Wales - A beamed stone cottage only 3 miles
from the West Wales coast in Cardigan Bay, and idyllically situated in 25 acres
with a small trout lake and stream meandering through our garden valley.It is
attached to our home, but has a private rural outlook and is completely separate
and self contained, with a private garden and patio.It is warm, cosy and welcoming
at all times of the year and is thoughtfully equipped to a high standard for up
to six people. It is enjoyed by couples wanting solitude, families of all ages
(often described as a children's paradise) and groups wanting a base for an activity

6: Monmouthshire Canal - South Wales
- 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom Washing machine Pets welcome. Situated
just above the junction of the Monmouthshire Canal with the Brecon and Abergavenny
Canal, Junction Cottage was built in 1814 to house the toll keeper whose job involved
looking after locks, keeping the waterways and gauging the weight of the barges.
A self catering holiday at Junction Cottage is ideal for small families of between
2-6 persons. The original building consisted of 3 floors, one below the towpath,
a ground floor and a first floor. It was built with a semi circular frontage onto

2-7:Trefeglwys, Montgomeryshire, Wales - 3 bedrooms
2 bathrooms Shops nearby Bars nearby. You will find Temperance House in the heart
of the rural village of Trefeglwys. It is opposite the village store and a farm
and the old parish church. The Village shop is opposite and a short stroll will
take you to the Red Lion Inn for enjoyable meals. The nearest town is Llanidloes,
approximately 3 miles from Trefeglwys, amidst the eastern slopes of the Cambrian
mountains. It is one of the great little market towns of Mid Wales and is the
first town on the River Severn. Newtown is about about 8 miles, Caersws is 4 miles.
Between them these towns offer theatres, cinemas,leisure centres, tennis, golf
course, river fishing, many pubs and restaurants and a good range of shopping

7 & 8: Llandybie, Carmarthenshire, Wales - 3
bedrooms 1 bathroomsSet in the beautiful rural Carmarthenshire countryside in
the foothills. Black Mountain Glynhir offers the visitor the tranquillity that
would be from an 18th Century Huguenot estate. Grouped around the farmyard with
it's peacocks, ducks, geese, chickens and barns are the self catering accommodation.
THE OLD BREW HOUSE: Sleeps 7 — 3 bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen with electric
cooker, microwave, fridge and quarry tiled floor. Dining room with sideboard,
table and chairs. At the entrance to the farmyard, this beautiful cottage has
a sunny and spacious sitting room with a wood burning stove, TV and large arched
windows that look out onto the old farmyard with its many stone buildings. There
are large exposed beams, stone walls, windows and French doors are set into the
old 'coach arches' giving the room lots of character. There is a family bedroom
with a double and single bed. Another double bedroom with views over the courtyard
and the third bedroom has twin beds. The bathroom has a bath, wash hand basin
and WC. The Brew House is reached through an attractive garden with an archway
from the Mansion House Courtyard. Clematis and roses adorn its walls. The Brew
House, as its name implies was the building in which the Estates beer was brewed.
There is full oil central heating.
THE
BAILIFF'S HOUSE: Sleeps up to 8, bedrooms. Large well equipped kitchen
/ dining area with gas gooker, fridge and microwave oven. Also a small recently
discovered bread oven. There is a large lounge with wood burning stove, TV. A
ground floor WC. Upsairs there are three bedrooms. Bedroom one has a double and
single bed together with en-suite bathroom / shower and WC. Bedroom two has a
double bed whilst bedroom three has a queen size bed (smaller than a double) together
with a single. Between bedroom two and three there is a bathroom with bath WC
and washbasin. Many exposed beams and full of character the Bailiff's House is
the largest and oldest building of those grouped around the farmyard. Originally
the home of the farm bailiff and his family as well as being the dairy. CLICK
